Final Ballon d’Or thoughts, Der Klassiker & can’t miss matches of the weekend

Alexi Lalas and David Mosse are back with a LIVE episode of State of the Union! We begin the show wrapping up our Ballon d’Or thoughts and going over the entire top 10 rankings. FOX Sports’ own Doug McIntyre referred to Kane winning as “ridiculous,” and Mosse and Alexi debate the take. Not only did Kane win the Ballon d’Or, Cristiano Ronaldo won the vote for the Ballon d’Or Best of All Time, taking home the award for his 2008 season. After, we dive into 5 can’t miss matchups of the weekend. We start with Bayern Munich vs Dortmund and discuss with the Bavarians dominance, is Der Klassiker still really a rivalry. We then go to the Premier League for Liverpool vs Arsenal and Chelsea vs Manchester United after the Gunners' and Blues' midweek Carabao Cup exits. We finish the weekend lookahead in Serie A with AC Milan vs Inter Milan and Juventus vs Napoli. Next, we dive into MLS and the guys opine about the abundance of success expansion teams have had in the league over the last decade and what has led to this phenomenon. In #AskAlexi, Alexi talks about playing against Alan Shearer at Wembley and in One for the Road, Alexi reminisces about his youth soccer days. 0:00 - Intro2:21: Final Ballon d'Or thoughts, Harry Kane winning ridiculous?13:15: Cristiano Ronaldo wins the Ballon d'Or B.O.A.T. vote19:46: Can't miss games of the weekend: Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund26:34: Can't miss games of the weekend: Liverpool vs Arsenal30:41: Can't miss games of the weekend: Chelsea vs Manchester United32:23: Can't miss games of the weekend: AC Milan vs Inter Milan37:16: Can't miss games of the weekend: Juventus vs Napoli42:16: What has led to so much success for expansion teams in MLS?47:00: #AskAlexi: Poch poaching players and battling Alan Shearer54:40: One for the Road: Alexi's youth soccer days Learn more about your ad choices.
