Buddhist Cult At The Nexus of The Tech Elite (It Wants to Kill Your Soul)
A deep investigation into Maple, a high-control organization with roots in effective altruism and Buddhist philosophy. The discussion covers its leader’s past statements on human extinction, ties to major tech funders, isolation practices, financial extraction from members, and plans for an AI system to enforce total control over society.
Hosts contrast these goals with their own focus on human flourishing and technological progress. The episode examines whistleblower accounts, funding sources like the Survival and Flourishing Fund, and why such groups represent a unique risk within elite intellectual circles.

Malcolm Collins:: Hello, Simone. I’m excited to be here with you today. Today, we are going to be talking about something that genuinely terrifies me. I feel like we’re personally blowing the lid off of this particular controversy. So if you guys remember, we had an episode where we were following organizations that had been funding. These were effective altruist organizations. These are sort of tech elite types, often on the the leftist side of things, that had been funding organizations that have been secretly planting people within news organizations without telling you to try to shut down the development of AI. Like the famous Guardian piece where three of the people were paid off. All three of them who wrote the piece Six. Six were paid off.
Simone Collins:
Yeah. Basically, yeah, it was it was all of the expert sources. It was the author, and it was the publication itself. So yes. To the tunes
Malcolm Collins:
of millions of dollars. And when we were chasing down their religious entanglements, one of the things that we noted, and we sort of passed it off, was, well, it appears the largest religious group, while they have been putting millions into Christian groups, the largest is some Buddhist group. And then the the the the just off the cuff statement was and it appears it’s mostly one group. So we mentioned this one group, then a few days later, a fan reaches out to us. And they’re like, that is something you want to double click on. So I will read a excerpt about the leader of this particular group. Okay? Sawyer considers human extinction as a noble impulse and as an ethically defensible goal. He has repeatedly shared that killing every human on Earth to protect the rest of life on Earth with his explicit life purposes from the ages of nine to 19. Oh my god. CRISPR, a gene modifying technique that could be used to create a novel bioweapon as his best available means.
Simone Collins:
That’s worse than the antinatalist. The antinatalist are like, look. The animals are way more miserable than we are. They need to go too. Or he wants to keep them around? Where they you know? Of course. Let the lions
Malcolm Collins:
or be it’s just us who can’t cause suffering.
Simone Collins:
Right? Yeah. Yeah.
Malcolm Collins:
Let the all of the insects in nature that eat animals and birds and frogs and
Simone Collins:
all the gazelles be eaten alive by the lions. It’s fine.
Malcolm Collins:
Well, you know, there are actually effective altruist organizations that have been funded to stop animals killing other animals in nature. There was the argument that it was, we might even do an episode on this point that it was the largest overlooked cause area that we needed to stop animal predation. And we did do an episode on it. Did we?
Speaker 3:
The episode came out six months ago, it was called the morality of the elite technocrat.
Simone Collins:
Look. You thought we did an episode on the Victorian cult that loved beating women.
Malcolm Collins:
Well, I’ll look it up. I’ll see. But he has now moved to what he wants to attempt to do until his vision shifted to killing them spiritually.
Simone Collins:
Oh, because that’s better. Alternative. Just kill their souls. At least it’s for eternity. That’s that’s how to really get it done.
Malcolm Collins:
Yeah. The reason I wanted to go into this and, no, he he said that’s the awakening, and you could say, well, that’s just, you know, being this is what Buddhists believe. This is one school of, like, genuine Buddhist thought, like, willing to kill you spiritually.
Simone Collins:
Yeah.
Malcolm Collins:
Yeah. And this is what they want to do. So I wanna get into this cult that this guy has built up. It’s incredibly dangerous. The the if you follow this guy’s individual story, what is so interesting is this particular, impulse of his to eradicate all of humanity. I decided to dig deeper into it to be like, okay. Did he say this? Like, what’s actually going on here? Is this actually a cult? How dangerous is this organization that apparently has its tendrils? They’ve been funded by JPMorgan, by the way. They’ve been funded JPMorgan.
Speaker 18:
Note here, the funding from JPMorgan was more like a fund that funneled through JPMorgan than JPMorgan directly.
Malcolm Collins:
The survival and flourishing fund, which is the org that funded us and and and funds a lot of this anti AI sentiment. The the they’ve been funded by innumerable, effective altruists orgs that are not like, they’re really closely tied to, what was that? Inc something thing that happened at that hacker house that used to invite us until they were mad that we’re not approving of, you know, everything that
Simone Collins:
trans people say? Yeah.
Malcolm Collins:
You know how manifest held that second conference called ink something?
Simone Collins:
Less online was what happened before. Right? Oh, no.
Malcolm Collins:
There was a second thing that they did. That was for, like, writing stuff. Oh. So, anyway, they’re really tied with manifest and stuff like this. So this is, like, one degree of separation from us. If the techno puritans had, like, a mortal enemy as an organization, we have found it. Because, like, the Zizians, this is the trans murder cult that also spun out of the EA org. It really was a trans. Almost everyone in the organization was trans, and they killed more people than the Manson family. And yet you probably haven’t heard of them.
Simone Collins:
Yeah. But they killed people not in a we need to take out all the people, not even in an ideological way. They killed a landlord who wanted them to pay their rent after, like, years of nonpayment. Somebody’s parents who would die in the and then they killed someone who pulled them over. Look up the Zissians if you don’t know about them. You’re But we
Malcolm Collins:
have an episode. Them. You can read about them. This is fantastic. Yeah.
Simone Collins:
Yeah.
Malcolm Collins:
But I think that a lot of people the reason I wanted to go into this is there’s this perception that, okay, the rank and file democrat, whatever, you know, they’re they’re evil. They’re extremists. They’re lobbying stuff at cars on the streets. But, you know, the they’re the the behind the scenes intellectuals controlling everything. Presumably, they’re less nefarious. Right? Like, they’re not so evil. Their intellectual upstream of this movement is, like, more muted. Because I think in republican circles, that’s often the way it is. If you look at a channel like ours, I mean, I think we’re pretty extreme, but a lot of people think that we’re fairly muted. And you and you see this in a lot of sort of upstream republican intellectual groups. And the reason I wanted to highlight and bring this group, their practices to light, is so that people can see, actually, the people at the end of this are not muted. They do want the eradication of all life on Earth. They do want the subjugation. I mean, this org talks about turning the world into a monastery. And they think that 50% they did this in a
