Billified Bite - Elvio & The Morgan Twins: Songwriting, Hits & Name That Tune

What does it actually take to write a song people give a damn about—and what happens when the people answering that question have actually done it?

Elvio Fernandes of Daughtry and The Morgan Twins join Billified for a conversation that goes well beyond music. Elvio pulls back the curtain on songwriting, touring, the grind behind the glamour, and how inspiration found in the most unexpected places helped lead to a #1 Daughtry song. The Morgan Twins talk creativity, writing from pain, their strange twin connection, and why sometimes the best art starts with something you’d rather forget.

There’s also talk about ego, failure, brutally critiquing your own old work, what separates talented people who make it from talented people who disappear—and why being great onstage might matter less on tour than simply being a “good hang.”

Then Kevin turns the studio into a full-blown Celebrity Edition of Name That Tune, putting Elvio Fernandes and The Morgan Twins to the test on song titles, artists and years. Turns out knowing how to write music and knowing random music trivia are two very different skills.

Add some old Rochester music stories, questionable road food, celebrity encounters, relationship detours and the usual Billified inappropriate turns, and this one lands somewhere between a backstage conversation, group therapy and a game show nobody properly prepared for.

Great music. Real stories. Bad decisions. And proof that even rock stars might get beat at Name That Tune!
