Mo Salah, a new name in the goalkeeper search, and Liverpool’s relationship with the England national team

World Cup talk dominates the latest episode of the brilliant Allez Les Rouges podcast.Host Peter Hooton and regulars Kieth Culvin and John Nicolson discuss the Liverpool players currently representing their countries in Russia including Dejan Lovren, Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah. The lads hope Salah will be rested for the final group game – and debate the lengths leaders and figures will go to use sport for political gain after Chechnya leader Ramzan Kadyrov made a beeline for the Reds hero at Egypt’s questionable choice of training base.Peter, Kieth and John were impressed by England in their opening match – and, unlike Martin Keown, particularly the performance produced by Jordan Henderson. That leads on to a fascinating and lengthy discussion about Liverpool supporters’ relationship with the national team.VAR, Emre Can, Jon Flanagan and Nail Fekir all get a mention before the focus turns to the Reds’ search for a goalkeeper – with a new target, who is in World Cup action, thrown into the mix. It’s another superb listen.
