Checkmate is a former Alabama State Trooper and U.S. Air Force Veteran that has become a master motivator, mentor, speaker, and founder of the non-profit organization Be Someone, Inc. Through chess, he teaches young people critical thinking skills, leadership, self-control, and nonviolent conflict resolution. His message is that "Brains Beat Bullets.
