WNBA Finals, Phee vs. Cathy, and Not Marrying a Billionaire | with Sarah Spain

Hello! It’s the podcast that still has its sense of smell, so, careful now. Today, Katie and the Casualties cordially invite you to next week’s live show in NYC (link in IG bio!) and break down the latest in youth hockey, awkward phone sign-offs, and the ongoing PR disaster known as as “UNC Football”. Then, Sarah Spain of “Good Game with Sarah Spain” joins the show [20:37] to talk about her pod, her book, the incredible difficulty that mainstream media has with talking honestly about the WNBA, the incredible difficulty that WNBA leadership has with pronouncing its own players’ names right, Cathy Engelbert’s feud with Napheesa Collier, the Valkyries, the Sun’s move, the upcoming CBA negotiations and whether we’ll see a work stoppage, what the players actually want, what the players actually deserve, how the Aces jumped out to a lead in the WNBA Finals and how they can close it out, Paige Bueckers’ rookie season, the likelihood of a Paizzi pairing in Dallas next year, Caitlin Clark and the change in her narrative after year two, Angel Reese and yet another star wanting out of Chicago, the 2025 NWSL season and what Sarah learned through her ownership stint with the Red Stars, the Cubs postseason, the cultural appropriation of Wrigley Field traditions, Caleb Williams, not being married to a billionaire, the Pope, Sister Jean, and Dolly Parton scaring the hell out of all of us for 12 hours. Then, we wrap with a look at Isabella’s undefeated fantasy team and why nothing on this planet makes sense anymore.
