South Africa vs Australia 3rd Test: Menners Minutes Day 5 'Disaster for Australia'
Australia's tour of South Africa ends in humiliating fashion as the hosts complete a comprehensive 176-run victory, winning the series 2-1 and claiming the number one spot in Test cricket. Menners reflects on one of the lowest points of the Pat Cummins era, as Australia collapse for just 111 chasing 288. Kagiso Rabada strikes early before Simon Harmer tears through the batting order with a sensational six-wicket haul, finishing with 10 wickets for the match. The review examines Australia's disastrous batting, questionable selections, Cummins' captaincy and the growing concerns surrounding Nathan Lyon. Menners also looks at the individual performances across the series, identifying some positives in Matt Renshaw, Josh Inglis and Cameron Green, while questioning the future direction of the Australian team. With the New Zealand summer, India tour and Ashes ahead, Menners argues that significant changes are needed, including a new captain and chairman of selectors.
