The World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation
The World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation is observed each year on September 1. Pope Francis established it for the Catholic Church in 2015, joining a practice already observed in the Orthodox tradition. It is a day to thank God for the gift of creation, pray for the protection of the earth, and reflect on how we can better care for our common home.
