Psalm 115 gives glory to God alone and contrasts Him with lifeless idols that cannot see, hear, or speak. It calls Israel, the priests, and all who fear the Lord to trust Him. He is their help and shield, and He blesses those who honor Him. Why does the Bible repeat certain phrases? In Hebrew poetry, repetition was a way to stress what matters most. When a line is repeated, God is drawing our attention to it. In Psalm 115 the repeated phrase invites us to trust the Lord in every situation. What are idols today? An idol is anything we trust or love more than God. Today that can be money, approval, comfort, or control. Psalm 115 reminds us that idols cannot help us, but the living God can.
