How Do I Wait Patiently on the Lord? (Psalm 40) | Daily Devotional & Bible Study
Waiting can feel so hard, especially if we like to do something to make things happen faster. Today we look at Psalm 40 and learn about the process of waiting and the posture of our hearts while we wait. I pray this episode points you to Jesus. "I waited patiently for the LORD; And He inclined to me and heard my cry." (Psalm 40:1) Questions this episode answers What does it mean to wait patiently for the Lord? Waiting on the Lord is an active trust, not passive boredom. In Psalm 40 David keeps crying out to God and expecting Him to answer. It means bringing our needs to Him and refusing to take matters into our own hands. What does God do while we wait? Psalm 40:2-3 says God lifted David out of the pit, set his feet on a rock, and put a new song in his mouth. Waiting seasons are often where God is doing deep work in us. He hears us even before we see the answer.
