Today we look at Psalm 81 and what it means to obediently listen to God. Over and over we see that God's heart is for relationship, and He calls His people to listen because He wants to bless them. We also talk about how disobedience can harm our relationship with Him. "Oh that My people would listen to Me, That Israel would walk in My ways!" (Psalm 81:13) Questions this episode answers What does Psalm 81 teach about listening to God? Psalm 81 shows God longing for His people to hear Him and follow His ways. He reminds Israel that He rescued them from Egypt and wants to provide for them. Listening to God is not just hearing. It is responding with trust and obedience. Why does God want us to obey Him? God's commands come from His love, not from a desire to control us. In Psalm 81, God says He would quickly deal with Israel's enemies if they would follow Him. Obedience keeps us close to the One who loves us most. How can I hear God's voice more clearly? Spend regular time in Scripture, since God's Word is the main way He speaks.
