Daily Devo | God's Grace > Our Sin (New Testament in a Year, Romans 5:12-21)

One of the great mysteries of humanity is that we are all connected. We all inherit our lives from common ancestors and there seems to be some sense in which whatever happens to one affects all. This connectedness makes us vulnerable to the sin that entered into the world through Adam. However, this connectedness also makes us open to the grace of God. When God became a human in Jesus, his grace became available to us all. What's more, the power of God's grace is far greater than the power of Adam's (and our) sin!

For Reflection:

- What do we inherit from our connection to Adam? What do we inherit from our connection to Jesus?

- How does this passage deepen your appreciation for what Jesus has done for you?

- Are there areas where you need to trust more fully in the power of God's grace rather than focusing on your failures?

- Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for overcoming sin and death through your perfect faithfulness. Help me to fully live in joy and gratitude for that gift!
