ACC WEEK 8 RECAP: NC State Fires Dave Doeren After SHOCKING Stanford Loss

NC State shakes up the ACC by firing head coach Dave Doeren after a stunning loss to Stanford. Is Philip Rivers a viable option for the Wolfpack’s sideline? Former NC State lineman Kenton Gibbs offers an inside perspective on Doeren’s legacy and what’s next for Raleigh, while Julian Council questions whether the program can avoid the pitfalls of chasing a “celebrity coach.”

The conversation centered on pivotal Week 8 ACC football matchups, including Virginia Tech’s first win over Clemson in 19 years, North Carolina’s blown leads and missed College GameDay opportunity, and Boston College’s dominant ground game against Georgia Tech. Key themes included quarterback instability across the league, the impact of the transfer portal, and the unpredictable road to bowl eligibility, as teams like Miami, SMU, and Wake Forest asserted dominance. Don’t miss a candid look at the shifting power dynamics within ACC football.
