SURPRISE: Baylor Could REPLACE Clemson As the Next OUT OF NOWHERE Powerhouse If They Just FIX THIS?

Can Baylor football become the next Clemson-style dynasty in the Big 12? The conversation focused on which programs are primed to make the leap from solid contenders to perennial powerhouses, spotlighting Texas Tech, BYU, TCU, and even Baylor as potential breakout teams. Key themes include the critical roles of NIL investment, alumni backing, and hiring the right coach—factors that elevated Clemson under Dabo Swinney and now drive debate about which Big 12 school is best positioned for a new era of dominance.

The discussion explored Scott Drew reigniting Baylor men’s basketball’s rivalry with Texas in a high-profile non-conference matchup in San Antonio, and questioned why more marquee in-state games aren’t scheduled. Several points were raised, including anonymous player insights on the toughest Big 12 football environments—LaVell Edwards Stadium (BYU) and Rice-Eccles Stadium (Utah) top the list, while Baylor’s McLane Stadium surprisingly receives a vote. Can Baylor seize the opportunity to raise its game on and off the field?
