Florida Gators Cornerback PROBLEM Is About as Good As It Gets

Florida Gators cornerback battle heats up as Jon Sumrall’s squad enters 2026 still searching for definitive starters. With talent-rich depth but limited experience, the question looms: Will Dijon Johnson’s technical prowess and physical play cement him as CB1, or will rising contenders like Cormani McClain, J'Vari Flowers, and Ben Hanks III seize their moment? Brandon Olsen breaks down the strengths, weaknesses, and upside of each candidate, assessing how Florida’s rotation strategy could keep the secondary fresh—and which unproven corners might finally break through. Analysis centers on McClain’s unrealized potential, Flowers’ physicality despite size questions, and Hanks’ spring hype. Can the Gators’ defense turn untested talent into SEC dominance, or will unanswered questions haunt a unit with NFL aspirations? Get the latest inside look at Florida’s evolving secondary and what it means for the program’s 2026 outlook.
