Atlanta Falcons FALLING OFF Before NFL Season Begins, Fernando Mendoza & Ty Simpson SHINE in Debuts
The Atlanta Falcons had an awful week, suffering the loss of their top edge rusher, James Pearce Jr, while also seeing their starting quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, struggle mightily in their preseason game. While the season is four weeks away, it feels like things are over fast for the Falcons. Also in the NFC South, the New Orleans Saints biggest worry came to pass as first-round pick Jordyn Tyson hurt his hamstring, after many worried about his health during the pre-draft process. Two rookie passers impressed this weekend with Fernando Mendoza looking good for the Las Vegas Raiders and Ty Simpson playing stellar for the Los Angeles Rams. It is good news for both teams, but Mendoza is clearly the Raiders best quarterback and should get the start sooner than later. Finally, Kyler Murray needs to play more for the Minnesota Vikings to be ready for the year and Deshaun Watson did not separate from Shedeur Sanders in the Cleveland Browns contest.
