Calen Bullock Needs a Running Mate… Is AJ Haulcy the Texans’ NEXT Playmaker? | Texans Draft Prospect

The Houston Texans may have found something special in Calen Bullock — but every great safety needs a running mate. Enter AJ Haulcy. In this episode of Locked On Texans, we break down why the Fort Bend Marshall (Mo City stand up!) product is climbing draft boards after strong runs in both the Big 12 and SEC. With real production, natural instincts, and physicality, Haulcy is firmly in the Day 2 conversation. 🎙️ PLUS: Full interview included! 📊 AJ Haulcy Measurements & Production Height: 6'0" Weight: 220 lbs (wants to play lighter in the league) Last 2 seasons: 8 interceptions 3 TDs allowed 10 PBUs 40 stops Nearly 30 missed tackles (area to clean up) 🔍 Film Room Takeaways: ✅ Elite ball skills that pop on tape ✅ Instinctive safety who reads QBs well ✅ Patient hips when playing deep (doesn’t overexpose early) ✅ Physical presence when tackle form is right ⚠️ Missed tackles remain a concern ⚠️ Recovery speed and pursuit angles raise questions in space ⚠️ Direction changes can look a bit tight at times One NFL personnel director told us: “His speed concerns me some, but he’s just a really instinctive player all the way around… I think he’s a Pro Bowler in the right scheme.” 👀 So here’s the real question… Is Houston the RIGHT scheme? With DeMeco Ryans building a defense loaded at every level — and Bullock already in place — AJ Haulcy might be walking into the perfect situation. 🎯 My projection: Likely Round 2… but don’t be shocked if he slips into Round 3. Either way, someone is getting a playmaker. 💬 Texans fans: Do YOU want AJ Haulcy paired with Calen Bullock? Drop your thoughts in the comments 👇
