ALERT- Players Told Me WVU_s Spring Practice was BRUTAL BUT FUN!

Streamed live on Mar 7, 2026 #WVU #WestVirginia #Mountaineers pring practice has officially begun for the West Virginia Mountaineers, and one thing is already clear — the intensity under Rich Rodriguez is real. After hearing from multiple players on the roster, it sounds like the winter workouts were absolutely brutal, and Day 1 of spring practice didn’t let up either. The strength and conditioning program pushed this team hard for seven straight weeks, and now the coaching staff is turning up the heat on the field. But something interesting is happening. The players aren’t just surviving the grind… they’re starting to buy in. In this episode of Locked On West Virginia, we break down what the early reports from spring practice could mean for the Mountaineers in 2026. Is the famous “Hard Edge” culture returning to Morgantown? Are these tough workouts the foundation for a faster, more physical team this fall? And could this brutal offseason actually be the spark that changes the trajectory of the program? We’ll also talk about why Rich Rodriguez historically uses winter workouts and spring practice to separate leaders from the pack — and which position groups could benefit the most from this new level of intensity. The Mountaineers are being pushed harder than they have in years… and the results might just show up on Saturdays. #WVU #WestVirginia #Mountaineers #HailWV #CountryRoads #RichRod #WVUFootball #LockedOnWV #CollegeFootball #Big12 #SpringPractice #HardEdge #CFB #CollegeFootballTalk Get an exclusive look at the intense atmosphere during the Mountaineers' first spring practice.
