Iofina CEO details next phase of iodine expansion, targets 2,000 metric tonnes

Iofina PLC (AIM:IOF, OTC:IOFNF) president and CEO Dr Tom Becker spoke with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the company's iodine production expansion, including additional brine water at IO#11, progress on the new IO#12 plant, and the longer-term ambition to reach 2,000 metric tonnes of production. Becker said Iofina is already processing water from a new partner at IO#11 following construction of a pipeline to bring in additional brine. The plant is ramping up and expected to be fully online within weeks, with the extra water source set to lift production by 45 to 65 metric tonnes. "For us to go from 500 to 1,000 metric tons is a big step," Becker said. IO#12 is central to reaching that milestone. Becker, who recently visited the site, said the project is progressing strongly and should be online before quarter-end, with capacity of around 170 to 220 metric tonnes - "approximately a 200-metric-tonne plant." Looking further out, Becker discussed Iofina's ambition to grow from a 1,000-metric-tonne run rate to 2,000 metric tonnes over the next few years, pointing to larger plants like IO#12 and potential opportunities in Oklahoma as key to getting there.
