Tap Global CEO Arsen Torosian: 'Monetise' digital assets, don't just hoard them

Tap Global Group PLC (LSE:TAP) CEO Arsen Torosian spoke with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the company's new digital asset income strategy, how it differs from the digital asset treasury model, and why the board believes now is the right time to launch it. Torosian explained that rather than simply accumulating Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies, Tap Global aims to generate income from its digital assets alongside its existing operating business. The company holds more than £1.75 million in digital assets, using strategies including lending, staking and low loan-to-value borrowing against certain assets to deploy capital elsewhere. "Rather than just simply raise capital or use our free cash flow to buy crypto and hold it, our idea is to monetise it as well," he said. He also explained why Tap Global held off launching the strategy during the previous digital asset treasury boom, saying it didn't want to chase market hype without a roadmap behind its approach. Torosian highlighted Tap Global's underlying operating business, generating around £3 million in annual revenue through crypto transactions across 80 currencies, payment accounts and a Tap prepaid Mastercard - giving the company multiple revenue sources across different market conditions. Looking ahead, he discussed Bitcoin's outlook following the recent correction, noting increased activity from retail investors, capital markets and institutions: "We think that it's time for Bitcoin to start another bull run."
