Carnival Rallies, CarMax Rises, FICO Falls
Today's biggest winners and losers in the stock market, a look at the notable movers:
On this episode of Stock Movers:
- Carnival (CCL) shares jump as much as 14% on Tuesday, the most intraday since April 8, after the cruise line operator boosted its adjusted earnings per share forecast for the full year. The company said both booked occupancy and pricing are at record levels for 2027, while 2028 is “off to an excellent start at higher occupancy and prices than last year.”
- CarMax (KMX) shares rose after the company reported comparable used-vehicle sales that expanded more than expected, showing its revival efforts are taking hold. Gross profit generated from used vehicle sales grew for the first time in five quarters, while the company sold more used vehicles in the quarter than analysts projected. CarMax plans to resume share buybacks in the third quarter of the year and will host a strategic update in November to talk about its new business strategies.
- Fair Isaac (FICO) the credit score company known as FICO, fell as much as 29%, the most intraday ever in data back to 1988, after Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte announced a move that makes it easier for lenders to adopt VantageScore. According to analysts, this will increase competition while pressuring FICO’s market share and pricing power.
