LVMH Keeps Dipping, BP Gains, Whitbread Jumps
Today's biggest winners and losers in the stock market.
On this episode of Stock Movers:
- LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE offered a closer look at the Chinese luxury slump, revealing that sales on the mainland fell by double digits last quarter while the traditionally high-spending consumer group also pulled back overseas.
- BP shares gain as much as 1.6% to touch the highest in more than six months, after the British oil major cut its net debt by around $8 billion, reaching its 2027 target early after surging prices drove windfall profits from energy trading and oil refining.
- Whitbread shares gain as much as 3.6%, to the highest level since March, after the hotel operator reported strong first-half results, including a beat on profit before tax. Analysts broadly expect consensus views on full-year profit before tax to be upgraded, noting robust current trading.
