What happens to Cristiano after international retirement? | Miguel Pereira

Cristiano Ronaldo has retired from international football and has left a formidable legacy. But could his final gift to Portugal have been this?

Following Ronaldo's surprise retirement and his fallout with Portugal manager Jorge Jesus, Portuguese football journalist and historian Miguel Lourenço Pereira joins Dotun Adebayo on the Brazilian Shirt Name Podcast to reflect on the end of an extraordinary era.

Was Ronaldo holding Portugal back? Did he stay too long? And how should we remember the greatest Portuguese footballer of his generation?

They discuss Ronaldo's Euro 2016 triumph, his rivalry with Lionel Messi, comparisons with Eusébio, the mistakes that may have shaped his later career and the future of Portugal without their iconic number seven.

They also examine his departure from Real Madrid, the pursuit of 1,000 career goals and what could come next after Al Nassr.

234 international appearances. 146 goals. Three major international trophies. An extraordinary legacy.
