How a Ghost Saved Him from Death | After Midnight

What if the ghost in your home wasn’t there to harm you… but to save you?

This true paranormal story spans decades and generations, beginning in the mid-1970s when a young Vietnam veteran’s life was spared by an unseen force. One night as he reached for the door, something invisible pinned it shut. Seconds later, a gunshot rang out in the parking lot — a bullet meant for no one in particular but that would have crossed his path had he stepped outside. That night he learned the name of his strange protector: Fred.

But years later, when the veteran’s son moved into a lakeside apartment with his fiancée, a new spirit appeared: the grief-stricken ghost of a weeping woman clutching her child, believed to be the restless soul of a drowned farmer’s wife. When she turned violent, slamming doors and freezing the air, Fred returned — an unseen ally battling the darker presence to protect the living.

From a handwritten note that spelled out “FRED” to the night police failed to open a locked door as chaos raged inside, this story will make you rethink what you believe about hauntings. Not all ghosts want you gone. Some may be standing between you and something far worse.
