The Patrick Madrid Show: August 31, 2026 - Hour 3

Patrick answers questions on guardian angels, prayers for those who left the faith, and whether grace can reach those closed off from it. He responds to lively debates on church customs, biblical mysteries like Lazarus’s age, and the classic rivalry between Tolkien’s epic and C.S. Lewis’s Narnia, letting callers’ passions shape the flow. Music talk, real-life marriage milestones, and concerns for pro-life centers in California thread through spirited exchanges that move from deep Catholic doctrine to the simple joy of a catchy tune.

• Sheila (email) - Can I ask the guardian angels of my grown children (who have left the faith) to attend Mass and pray for them, and if so, what grace would result and could it still reach and affect them even if they are not open to it? (00:40)
• Daniel – Genuflecting (08:14)
• Deidra - There are two types of repenting: repenting every day and repenting and be baptized. We need both. (10:35)
• John - Do we know how old Lazarus was when Jesus raised him from the dead? (12:46)
• Doug – On Friday, the Archbishop of San Francisco wrote a piece about suing the abortion reversal pill (13:58)
• Nathaniel - What is better, LOTR or the Chronicles of Narnia? (20:57)
• Richard - I read the LOTR books and saw the movies. The movie was a bit of a letdown but I still loved them. The Narnia books fantastic.
• Andy - I want to know what is penal substitution and is it something Catholics believe? (34:13)
• Dave - For Nathaniel, Narnia Christian themes much more obvious but LOTR themes are deeper, more complex. I think both are excellent. (39:12)
• Ronnie - I want to encourage other married people not to give up on their spouse and try to make it better. Divorce is not the answer. (49:15)
