What the Essenes Hid at Qumran: Secrets of the War Scroll | Dr. Matthew Goff

In this episode of The Ryan Files, Ryan sits down with Dr. Matthew Goff, Professor of Religion at Florida State University and leading scholar of ancient Judaism, to explore the supernatural world of the Dead Sea Scrolls. From the remote caves of Qumran to the mysterious Jewish sect known as the Sons of Light, Dr. Goff breaks down the apocalyptic worldview of the Essenes and their belief in an impending cosmic war between light and darkness.

The conversation dives deep into key texts like The War Scroll, examining how the Essenes viewed spiritual warfare, angels, Belial, and ritual holiness on the battlefield. Dr. Goff and Ryan also discuss the Book of Enoch, Genesis 6, the origin of the Nephilim and giants, and how the ancient spirits of these giants—referred to as "bastard spirits"—were tied to ancient exorcisms and demonology.
