Opening Night Reactions + Devils/Islanders Talk ft. Sunny Mehta & Stefen Rosner

Jeff Marek breaks down a chaotic opening night across the NHL, starting with the gritty battle between the Carolina Hurricanes and Florida Panthers before getting into Kirill Marchenko’s highly anticipated debut with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Jeff also reacts to opening-night wins for the Boston Bruins and Vegas Golden Knights over the New York Rangers and Chicago Blackhawks, plus a wild first game in Edmonton as the Oilers and Vancouver Canucks went toe-to-toe in Mike Babcock’s debut behind the Edmonton bench. Then Stefen Rosner joins Jeff in studio to tee up the Islanders season opener in Toronto against the Maple Leafs, expectations of Schaefer in his second season, Bo Horvat being named captain, Mathieu Darche's summer, and more. Later, Sunny Mehta joins the show to discuss the New Jersey Devils’ offseason, expectations for the season ahead, how the NHL continues to evolve on and off the ice, and how those changes are reshaping the role of the modern general manager. Jeff and Sunny dig into roster construction, analytics, organizational philosophy and much more from around the league.
