Associate Professor Michael Salter is a criminologist and Scientia Fellow at the University of New South Wales, where he undertakes research on child sexual exploitation, complex trauma and gendered violence. He is the author of Organised Sexual Abuse (Routledge, 2013) which examines the narratives of adults who were sexually abused by groups of perpetrators as children, and Crime Justice and Social Media (Routledge, 2017), which details how social media and the internet is impacting sexual offences and discussions about them. He sits on the board of directors of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation, who awarded him the 2018 Morton Prince Award for Scientific Achievement. He is a national and international consultant to child protection agencies including the Australian Child Abuse Prevention Service and the Canadian Centre for Child Protection.
