Behind The Curtain with Charley Lee

Introducing Charley Lee, one of the resident DJs at Downtown Cabaret in Minneapolis, MN! Our discussion leads us from his upbringing in Queens, NY where he began DJing to his college years at Duke University, through his start in adult night clubs in Las Vegas to his current residency at Downtown Cabaret which began in 2011. Charley tells us how a love of music from the radio starting with 'hair-metal' bands like Def Leppard and Guns N' Roses to hip-hop, reggae, dancehall, and house led to a lifelong passion for music and DJing! How did he first discover Wu-Tang Clan? What made Ol' Dirty Bastard tell a bouncer in Queens? Lol, What kind of culture shock did Charley experience in his journey from NYC to Duke (Durham, NC) and to Las Vegas? We dive into some of the nuances and differences in club DJing Vs Strip Club DJing. Charley tells us of his travels throughout Europe to discover underground house music that reminded him of why he loves the genre so much in the first place. Charley is thankful for his Downtown Cabaret family and team that allows him to fulfill all his artistic passions in the context of his club. He's found the true 'Unicorn' job!
