A Prayer against Shying Back and Hiding Your Light

From Your Daily Prayer Your Daily Prayer

Jesus calls us to shine His light boldly, but sometimes fear of judgment, criticism, or misunderstanding causes us to shrink back. We may worry that others will see our gifts as prideful or our testimonies as boasting. Yet, Matthew 5:16 reminds us: “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

In today’s prayer and devotional, we are reminded that our responsibility is to shine faithfully, while others are responsible for how they respond. Even if people misunderstand, our calling is clear: to step out of fear, use the gifts God has given us, and point all glory back to Him.

Main Takeaways

God commands us to let our light shine—obedience is our responsibility, not managing others’ reactions.
Fear of man often keeps us from boldly using our gifts, but God calls us to release that fear.
When we live and speak with humility, our light reflects God’s story, not our own glory.
Other people are responsible for glorifying God when they see His work through us.

Bible Verse Reference
