EP 95: “Terror in Wichita” — The Story of ‘Bind-Torture-Kill’ Killer Dennis Rader (Part V)

Welcome back, campers. This week, we’re diving into part five of our BTK deep dive, and this time, it’s personal, because the episode isn’t just about Dickwad Dennis (as we call him). It’s also about someone who stood on the other side of the story: Lieutenant Kenneth Landwehr, the Wichita homicide detective who would spend decades quietly hunting a ghost.

⚠️ Content Warning: This episode includes graphic discussions of violence, stalking, and sexual sadism.

In this episode, we explore:

• The early life and turning point of Lt. Landwehr (spoiler: it involves being hogtied during an armed robbery).
• The creation of the “Ghostbusters” task force and the grueling, analog manhunt to catch BTK.
• The murder of Vicki Wegerle, a kind, musical soul and devoted mother who fought like hell to survive.
• The haunting murder of Dolores “Dee” Davis, a retired secretary who lived just one mile from Dennis Rader’s house.

And yes, we get even closer to his eventual capture.

🎧 If you're just now joining, head back to Episode 85 for the full BTK series from the start. Trust us, it’s worth it. Dennis might be hiding, but Kenny Landwehr is watching.
