Influencers and Antacids at the US Open, and College Football’s Weird Week One

Hello! It’s the podcast that’s here to normalize sad fireworks. Today, Katie and the Casualties share each other’s misery of Andrew He, the Baltimore Orioles, and the Carlton Blues taking bittersweet L’s this week, and get into Ben Shelton’s massive upset at the US Open, wins for Tiafoe and Pegula, Sabalenka smelling weed, Medvedev tasting Tums, and influencers going wild, from the new tennis crowd at center court to Morgan Riddle and Alix Earle. Then, the team reacts [53:30] to Cathy Engelbert’s retirement announcement, week one in college football, Lane Kiffin and his posse of influencers, his bonding with Pat McAfee and his drubbing of Clemson, and the end to the LSU pro players saga, the Kansas State mascot’s incredible upper body workout, the controversial end to the Michigan-Western Michigan game where Michigan was gifted an extra play, Michigan fans storming the field and the hierarchy of sad fan behavior, Rutgers’ postgame fireworks, USC’s attendance, Tennessee fans singing for Dolly, Angels fans successfully bullying Arte Moreno, the Royals and the greatest in-game hot dog celebration ever, the 49ers in Australia, Kyle Shanahan struggling with time, Davante Adams being terrified of Australian octopi, and John Buccigross’ take on AI broadcasters in video games. And finally, Katie and the Casualties wrap with your best voicemails for the week, and the MMA fighter who is probably going to get killed by a chimpanzee.
