MAILBAG: Is the Carolina Panthers Defense Set for MAJOR Overhaul Under Todd Wash?
Carolina Panthers fans brace for a defensive shakeup as Todd Wash takes over as interim defensive coordinator. Will more 4-man fronts and tweaks to the run defense finally help Carolina overcome its long-standing struggles on the ground? Key questions center on switching from a 3-4 to a 4-3 scheme, player fits such as Bobby Okereke and Devin Lloyd at linebacker, and the real impact of scheme versus personnel. Host Julian Council also tackles pressing roster issues, including injured reserve limitations, potential returns of Jaycee Horn and Mike Jackson, and decisions on Xavier Legette and Jonathon Brooks. Trade deadline scenarios are debated—should Dan Morgan target a defensive back or stable offensive line help, or stick with the current rebuilding plan? Plus, intriguing possibilities arise regarding Brady Christensen’s versatility on the offensive line. Can the Panthers turn the corner under Wash’s leadership, or will familiar struggles persist?
