Cults and Cons: Anna Delvey, The Heiress Who Never Was

Between 2013 and 2017, Anna Sorokin — a Russian-born, German-raised young woman with a sharp eye for luxury and a sharper tongue for anyone who doubted her — convinced New York's elite that she was Anna Delvey, heiress to a vast European fortune. She stayed in five-star hotels, flew on private jets, defrauded banks out of hundreds of thousands of dollars, and nearly secured a $22 million loan to fund her own private arts club. She was caught, convicted, detained, and still, somehow, kept talking. In today's first Cults and Cons episode, Sabrina Deana-Roga and Corinne Vien trace the con, the character, and the city that was almost too flattered by her attention to notice it was being robbed. And for more cases just like this one, be sure to check out the Crime House Original, Crimes of Reddit. If you’re new here, don’t forget to follow Crime House 24/7 to never miss a case!
