Ramble Meets...Michael Owen

Michael Owen crashed on to the scene in May 1997 in a Premier League game for Liverpool against Wimbledon, and marked it with a goal. Obviously. From then on his career was a whirlwind that involved setting international tournaments alight, a move abroad to the biggest club in the world, injuries, and goals. Lots and lots of goals.

Marcus caught up with Michael for this latest edition of Ramble Meets... to discuss his career, what it takes to get to the very top, a certain night in St Etienne in the summer of 1998, and how he views his time at Real Madrid.

This episode of Ramble Meets... is available to acast+ subscribers from Wednesday 5th September, and all Football Ramble subscribers a week later from the 12th.

This interview took place at Pro:Direct LDN19 for the launch of Umbro’s Speciali 98 collection, a boot inspired by that night in St. Etienne. To check out the full collection head over to prodirectsoccer.com.
