DJ Wagner Scouting Report: Will A Fresh Start at Arkansas Unlock His NBA Potential?

In this episode of Locked On NBA Big Board , hosts Rafael and James Barlowe debate DJ Wagner’s decision to transfer to Arkansas for his sophomore season, following John Calipari. Once rated as the No. 1 player in the class of 2023, Wagner’s freshman year at Kentucky didn’t live up to expectations, and he now faces a crucial season to solidify his NBA draft stock. Rafael argues that Arkansas offers Wagner the perfect environment to hone his skills under a familiar coach, while James believes his draft prospects would be better served by playing at a school where he’d have a higher usage rate and more touches on the ball. They break down what Wagner needs to improve—particularly his shooting and finishing at the rim—and whether Arkansas can provide the right platform for him to reestablish himself as a top prospect. Tune in to hear Rafael and James’ spirited discussion on Wagner’s NBA future and what’s at stake in his sophomore season. NBA Draft analyst Rafael Barlowe from NBA Draft Junkies and current author of the NBA Big Board newsletter is joined by Richard Stayman (@MavsDraft), James Barlowe, and Leif Thulin to breakdown the NBA Draft.
