SHAKEUP: Brent Venables Justifies Firing, Oklahoma Sooners OFFENSE Must Improve | Sticking with MATEER?

Oklahoma Sooners shake up their offensive approach, replacing Ben Arbuckle with Jason Witten as offensive coordinator after another tough loss to South Carolina. Can this bold move ignite the team’s bowl hopes and spark a turnaround for quarterback John Mateer, whose struggles have drawn scrutiny from coaches and fans alike?

The conversation focused on Brent Venables’ leadership in demanding higher standards, the urgent need for offensive improvement, and the strategic implications of Witten’s promotion. Key topics include the quarterback depth chart uncertainty, the potential for increased roles for running backs Jonathan Hatton and Tory Blaylock, and the necessity of better blocking schemes. The discussion explored how the Sooners can capitalize on Florida’s vulnerable defense and whether a shift in play-calling philosophy will finally get Oklahoma’s offense back on track. Will this coaching decision be enough to keep Oklahoma’s bowl streak alive?
