Is Marte Mapu Ready? Houston Texans LB Reveals What He’s Still Learning + Klein a VERTICAL THREAT?!

Marte Mapu is still learning how to play linebacker — and the details matter. On this episode of Locked On Texans, we sit down with Marte Mapu for a straight-up conversation about his transition from safety to linebacker, what he’s learning, and what real progress looks like as he continues to master the position. Going back and watching Houston’s preseason opener, one area immediately stands out: Mapu’s late reactions in run support. His frame could also create challenges against bigger offensive linemen when they reach the second level. But Mapu explains where he feels he is improving — especially when it comes to getting to his spots and playing faster. Then we get into a BIG question for Houston: Is the Texans' wide receiver room good enough right now? With Jaylin Noel dealing with a hamstring injury and Tank Dell slowly working his way back, Houston may need more help. Should the Texans look outside the organization for another receiver, or can Lewis Bond and Jared Wayne prove they’re trustworthy pieces? And don't sleep on Marlin Klein. Can the young tight end become another vertical threat in an offense that desperately needs more explosive playmakers? What could his role look like in Nick Caley’s offense, and does he have the ability to stretch defenses?
