Klarna Rises; Meta Soars on Cloud Report; Alcoa Falls on South32 Acquistion
Today's biggest winners and losers in the stock market.
On this episode of Stock Movers:
- Shares of Klarna (KLAR) rise after a Swedish Patent and Market court ordered Alphabet Inc.'s Google was ordered to pay almost $2 billion to Klarna Group Plc's Pricerunner unit in a dispute over the search-engine giant's abuse of power in the market for comparison shopping services.
- Shares of Meta (META) soared after Bloomberg News reported that the Facebook parent is developing plans for a cloud-infrastructure business to sell access to AI computing power and models, competing with industry leaders like Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud.
- Shares of Alcoa (AA) traded at the lowest level since mid-December after announcing plans to buy South32 aluminum assets in a cash and stock transaction for an upfront consideration of approximately $4.1 billion. The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2027, subject to the approval of South32’s shareholders, the receipt of required regulatory approvals, and the satisfaction of certain other customary closing conditions.
