EP 530 | SCENT MISTAKES COST BUCKS

What if the deer scent you’ve been spraying all over your scrape is actually telling deer to stay away? In this episode, I sit down with Warren and Easton from Raised Scents to break down what deer are actually communicating through their natural glandular scents—and why most of us have been using scent the wrong way for years. We get into the story behind Raised Hunting and how the family went from a TV show to building their own scent company, why they believe real glandular scents are different from synthetics, and what each gland is actually telling a deer. We also break down Scrape King, Scrape Addict, Scrape Queen, LHD, Buck Junkie and the Rut System, when to use each one, and the biggest mistakes hunters make when applying them. Then we get into one of my favorite parts of the conversation—rub trees. Why white pine? How much scent should you actually use? Why are some bucks hitting the same tree over and over? And what happens when you build a rub tree the right way? We also tackle some of the biggest scent myths in hunting, including cover scents, urine-based products, ozone and why no scent product in the world can replace good wind management. If you’re serious about using scent to create better scrape and rub activity this fall, you’re going to want to hear this one before you start spraying everything in the woods.  . . .
