From Federal Prison to Celebrity Jeweler | Jimmy Phan
Jimmy Phan, known as Jimmy the Gent, went from federal prison to building a multimillion-dollar jewelry business. But the story behind the celebrity clients and custom diamonds includes a SWAT raid, raising his daughter, and a betrayal he says cost him $1.8 million in jewelry. In this episode of The Level Up Podcast, Paul Alex sits down with the Houston celebrity jeweler behind Done Right & Co. for an honest conversation about entrepreneurship, fatherhood, trust, and starting over. Jimmy explains how he built an audience on MySpace, why his music career lost momentum, and how Instagram helped him find a new direction. He shares how learning the jewelry business from Iceman Nick changed his family’s future, how his daughter’s viral videos brought new attention to his work, and how he began designing custom jewelry for 6ix9ine. He also opens up about the SWAT raid his daughter witnessed, why he turned down a 20-year entertainment deal for her, and what happened when someone he treated like family stole from his business. Along the way, Jimmy and Paul unpack the lessons behind the success: earning trust through good business, recognizing warning signs in partnerships, protecting your time, and giving your children opportunities you never had. If you’re building a business, rebuilding after a setback, or trying to create a better future for your family, this conversation brings the decisions behind the comeback into focus.
