I Was The Craziest Heist Man Of My Time—While My Wife Worked for the FBI
Henry Wainwright joins Nelson Rodriguez Jr. on the Honor Among Thieves Podcast to recount his life committing armed robberies and home invasions in Miami—and the revelation that his wife worked as an FBI informant. From a troubled childhood and military service to robbing drug dealers in South Florida, Henry describes how his crimes escalated during Miami’s cocaine era and led to decades behind bars. Henry shares stories of dangerous heists, stolen cash and jewelry, and unexpected turns—including a drug dealer’s girlfriend wanting to leave with him and a robbery where taking money from the wrong safe created an expensive problem. He also discusses his wife’s connections to Manuel Noriega and her attempts to secure his release through federal investigators. According to Henry, an offer involving his freedom and a new identity depended on providing information about his criminal contacts. He explains why he refused. Beyond the robberies and FBI connections, this episode explores Florida prison life, violence behind bars, legal battles, and the consequences of spending more than 32 years incarcerated across state and federal custody. Henry reflects on his experiences at Florida State Prison, his faith, and his work as a writer.
